TYPES OF TSUNAMIS

DISTANT TSUNAMI- these originate from a distant source and is caused by a major earthquake. It is similar to the local tsunami but it consists of multiple waves.
 LOCAL TSUNAMI-this type of tsunami is usually caused by an earthquake, but can also be caused by landslides or volcanic eruption. The source is nearby and the effects are confined to the coastal area.
 REGIONAL TSUNAMI-this is a type of tsunami that can cause destruction in a particular region and has little effects outside the region.
