TYPES OF LANDSLIDES

TYPES OF LANDSLIDES

  1. FALLS- starts with the detachment of rock or soil masses from steep slopes. The rock or soil falls.
  2. TOPPLES- this is a forward rotation, out of a slope, of rock mass or soil mass.
  3. SLIDES- this is a down-slope movement of rock mass and/or soil masses that occur on the surface of thin areas with intense strain.
  4. FLOWS- spatially continuous movement in which the surfaces are not preserved during and after the event.
  5. SPREADS-is an extension of a cohesive rock or soil mass combined with other materials (softer underlying materials).
